Window Cleaning Tips - How to Have the Cleanest Windows in the Neighborhood

Tip! Replacing your windows, however, is not a job to be taken lightly, and it is important to give such an important project the respect and attention that it deserves. The key to replacing your windows like a pro is to plan properly and to know what you want before you start shopping.

Nothing looks worse than a dirty window on a beautiful summer day. Use these easy techniques for spotfree, shiny windows.

Tools: Soft, linkfree cotton cloths - old cotton t-shirts or diapers Sponge/squeegee combination with a long handle if you have hard to reach windows Bucket filled with lukewarm water, 3 tbsp. ammonia and a squirt of liquid dish soap Toothpaste, for scratches Q-tips Plastic scrubber

Clean windows in the morning if the weather is hot. This prevents streaking caused by the washing solution drying too rapidly.

Work on one window at a time. Thoroughly scrub the window with the sponge side of the squeegee. If there is crud stuck to the window, use the plastic scrubber to gently remove it. Clean the corners with Q-tips.

Dry a strip at the top of the window with the cotton cloth. Pull the squeegee straight down, starting in the dry strip. Wipe the blade before moving to the next section. Mop up the bottom of the window and the sill with the cotton cloth.

Polish out any scratches with a little bit of toothpaste on a piece of clean cloth.

Repeat with the rest of the windows.

Follow these simple instructions and you will have clean windows you can be proud of.
