There are certain measures you can take to ensure your windows are functioning properly and looking good year after year.
- Inspect Windows Regularly – Most importantly, inspect the frame for any rot. Finding rot means that water is getting in from outside. Also if there is moisture between double or triple panned windows, it means the seal most likely needs replacement.
- Clean Your Windows – Aluminum and vinyl window frames can be cleaned with a mild cleaning solution and a brush. Wooden window frames need a little more care however. It’s best to use a damp cloth, being careful not use too much liquid as it promotes rot.
- Seal Holes- If you find any cracks or holes where air is coming in, seal it right away with caulk or foam spray. This will help your windows do their job and ensure your home is warm in the winter and cool in the summer when the a/c is on.
